FAQS
BACKED UP BY SCIENCE
There are numerous scientific studies showing that certain wavelengths of visible blue light are effective at accelerating whitening as well as reducing the pathogenic bacteria associated with common dental problems. Red light has been shown to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote healing in the body. Light is able to travel into tight spaces, between teeth, and even under the gum line, delivering more benefits than mechanical brushing alone.
Blue light provides mild whitening even when used on its own. The light is absorbed by dark pigments and stains that have settled into porous tooth structure. These pigments are receptive to bleaching as chemical bonds are gently broken by the resonating wavelength of light. When this specific type of light is combined with a peroxide toothpaste or gel, it acts as an accelerant — amplifying whitening AND germ-killing effects
Red light has been shown to stimulate circulation and reduce inflammation in the body, which is particularly beneficial for delicate gum tissue.
Studies demonstrate that the type of blue light used in Oralucent selectively destroys the specific bacteria that produce volatile sulfur compounds, or VSCs. VSCs are considered the root cause of bad breath, so using Oralucent can help eliminate the very source of the problem, instead of just masking it temporarily , like chewing gums and breath sprays. As an added benefit, reducing the undesirable bacteria allows the beneficial bacteria to thrive, fostering a balanced microbiome. This is a smarter approach than simply wiping out all bacteria (as most mouthwashes do) since that gives opportunistic bacteria the upper hand in repopulating.
Yes! There is a large and growing body of research on the medical benefits of light therapy. It has been found effective in numerous studies in the field of dental medicine for both antimicrobial purposes as well as whitening. The Phototherapy Studies tab at the bottom of this page contains links for additional research.
The mouth is considered the gateway to the body, as more and more studies are proving. It’s extremely important to keep the oral microbiome balanced for overall health and well-being. Harmful microbes contain an iron-based porphyrin pigment which is metabolized from human blood. For this reason, harrmul bacteria are affected by blue light, whereas harmless and benevolent bacteria remain unaffected.
BRILLIANT RESULTS
The number of shades will vary depending on a variety of factors. The length of time it takes to see noticeable results will also vary based on the starting point. Using the brush as recommended (2 minutes twice a day), you can expect to see results within 10 days.
The American Dental Association recommends two minutes of brushing twice a day at a minimum. The same is true for Oralucent, though our brush will continue up to a 4-minute maximum per brushing session to encourage longer brushing and even greater benefits. If you have an area requiring greater care, you may want to spend a little more time concentrating the light there.
Yes, blue light will indeed provide an excellent way to maintain, on a daily basis, the results you experience with professional teeth whitening. Adding peroxide gel or toothpaste helps to boost whitening power.

USING THE TOOTHBRUSH
Yes! You can use your favorite toothpaste. Using a toothpaste containing peroxide, however, will boost the whitening and brightening effects even more because peroxide acts as an accelerant with blue light.
Please note that using black toothpastes containing charcoal, however, may block the light and diminish its effects.
Comfort and control is in your hands - with 5 sonic speed levels and an optional manual mode. In the manual setting, you still receive all the benefits of red and blue light therapy. Sonic cleaning action can be added at any time.

The Oralucent Pro Edition light therapy toothbrush integrates a lithium-ion battery to power the LED light and sonic action. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) permits electric toothbrushes with LION in both carry-on and checked baggage. However, devices containing lithium-ion batteries are recommended to be carried in your carry-on luggage due to safety considerations.
Key Points
- Carry-On Luggage. It's advisable to pack your Oralucent Pro Edition electric toothbrush in your carry-on bag, especially if it contains a lithium-ion battery. This precaution is due to the potential fire risk associated with lithium batteries when stored in the aircraft's cargo hold.
- Checked Luggage. While the TSA allows electric toothbrushes in checked baggage, it's safer to keep devices with lithium-ion batteries in your carry-on. If you must pack it in checked luggage, ensure the device is completely powered off and protected to prevent accidental activation or damage.
- Spare Batteries. You never need spare batteries for the Oralucent Pro Edition toothbrush because you can't remove the battery and we've already integrated a battery that lasts about 1 week with regular brushing.
Additional Tips
- Charge Before Travel. Ensure your toothbrush is fully charged before your trip to avoid the need for charging during your journey.
- Check Airline Policies. While TSA provides general guidelines, individual airlines may have specific regulations regarding electronic devices and batteries. It's advisable to check with your airline before traveling.
By following these guidelines, you can safely bring your Oralucent Pro Edition electric toothbrush with a lithium-ion battery on your flight.
